JCP&L Monitoring Storm with Potential Impact to New Jersey

JCP&L prepares crews and urges customers to take precautions ahead of anticipated severe weather.

Storm Overview
JCP&L / FirstEnergy meteorologists are tracking a weather system that will impact New Jersey this weekend. The company is closely monitoring conditions and will continue to provide regular updates to support situational awareness and readiness.

At this time, expected impacts include scattered cells across our entire service area, with potential for thunderstorms and high winds.

We are closely monitoring the forecast and are prepared to respond as conditions develop.

JCP&L Storm Response and Preparation Efforts
In advance of the storm, JCP&L has:

·                Requested additional contractors, mutual aid line, and forestry crews.

·                Implementing 16-hour staggered shifts to ensure 24-hour coverage and response.

·                Maintained close coordination with emergency management, state and local officials, and regulators.

·                The safety of our crews and customers is our priority.

Customer Preparedness and Safety

JCP&L encourages customers to prepare for potential power outages associated with the storm.

·                Charge mobile phones and backup batteries. Have car chargers, flashlights, and bottled water available. Stock nonperishable food and required medications.

·                Never use gas stoves, kerosene heaters, or other open-flame heat sources to keep warm. These sources of heat can cause deadly carbon monoxide gas to build up in your home. Never use a portable generator inside the house or a closed garage.

·                If you have a well water and septic, keep an emergency supply of bottled water and/or fill your bathtub with fresh water.
