Fireman’s Park Boardwalk
Restoration Underway
The “Fireman’s Park Boardwalk
Replacement” project was recently commenced by Bird Construction of Bayville,
NJ. The project includes the reconstruction of the existing timber
boardwalk along the waterfront at Fireman’s Park. The boardwalk was
substantially damaged during Superstorm Sandy and is being partially funded
through a reimbursement from FEMA. The entire timber boardwalk will be
reconstructed along with the sitting benches, bulkhead cap and
steps/landings. The project will also include the installation of
Tideflex Check Valves on the existing storm pipes that penetrate the bulkhead
as well as new decorative banner poles along the shore side of the
boardwalk. Lastly, a new fish cleaning station will be installed with an
anticipated future connection of a water service line.
It is expected that the project
duration will be approximately 6 weeks, weather permitting. The boardwalk
will be closed for the duration of the project. Residents are requested to
avoid the construction site until the project is completed. For more
