2016 Operation Take Back

Saturday April 30th, 2016 from 10am to 2pm

The Keyport Police Department in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) New Jersey Division invites you to participate in this year’s National Take Back Initiative to be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016.

The goal of the program is to allow the citizens of New Jersey to rid their homes of unused, unwanted, or expired medications by turning these medications in to law enforcement officials who dispose of the substances in a safe and non-hazardous manner, preventing these pills from falling into the hands of juveniles or into the wrong hands.

The Keyport Police Department will be hosting a collection site, as we have done so in the past.

Police departments wishing to participate will be listed on the DEA website, www.dea.gov, to inform the public of collection locations and program information.  We will provide containers for the collection of medications for the event.

The collection point for the Keyport Police Department will be at Keyport Borough Hall located at 70 West Front Street Keyport, NJ 07735.

Prescription drug abuse is the nation’s fastest growing drug problem. The take back events are a useful tool to reducing the diversion and abuse of medications.  Keeping medications out of the wrong hands will help keep our families stronger and our communities safer.  Please visit our website www.dea.gov for more information.
