6/30/2011 - NJ HOMEKEEPER PROGRAM

New Jersey HomeKeeper Program  -
On September 23, 2010, the U.S. Department of Treasury announced the award of $112 million to New Jersey for a new anti-foreclosure program that assists homeowners struggling with unemployment and substantial underemployment. The HomeKeeper Program will provide financial assistance to New Jersey homeowners who are threatened with the loss of their homes due to their inability to make mortgage payments due exclusively to the loss of employment or substantial underemployment. The HomeKeeper program is anticipated to start in the near future. Please check this website periodically for updates. Also please note that if there is any performance activity to be reported at the end of the first quarter, the Agency's first quarterly report will be posted on this website after the end of March 2011.

Mortgage Assistance Program (MAP)
 - provides temporary financial assistance, up to $20,000, to income-eligible homeowners who wish to remain in their homes but are in imminent danger of foreclosure due to short-term financial problems beyond their control. To see if you qualify, contact a counseling agency in the county in which you live. A list of agencies can be found on pages 3 and 4 of the Foreclosure Fast Facts sheet.
